It is generally accepted that aluminum alloy die casting is one of the most cost-effective and sustainable methods of manufacturing metal parts. When using aluminum, you must choose which aluminum casting alloy to use in the process. The following is some technical information about aluminum alloys to help you better understand your alloy options and why we choose our favorite alloys.

 

A380 aluminum alloy

The most popular aluminum die casting alloy is A380. We use A380 because it clearly has the best combination of casting physical and mechanical properties, including light weight, very strong at high temperatures, and corrosion resistance. A380 can maintain dimensional stability well even in complex shapes and thin walls, and provide high electrical and thermal conductivity.

 

A383 aluminum alloy

Another option for the die casting machine is to use A383 aluminum alloy. This alloy is usually only used when you are forming complex parts and require very special mold filling characteristics. Although it does not have all the characteristics of A380, it does provide higher strength at high temperatures and is less likely to crack under heating.

 

A360 aluminum alloy

A360 is more difficult to cast than A380, which is why many die casters avoid using it. However, it does have higher strength, better ductility and higher corrosion resistance at high temperatures, so you may need to consider using this alloy based on your casting capabilities and needs.
